Copper has been used for centuries in many different cultures for many different reasons and was probably the first metal used in the making of weapons and tools. Think axes, spear tips and drinking vessels. It has also been used for its healing power since the middle ages. It has been an important metal for magical uses and has been linked to the divine for millennia.
Copper is a mineral that is found throughout the body. It helps your body make red blood cells and keeps nerve cells and your immune system healthy. It also helps form collagen, a key part of bones and connective tissue. Copper may also act as an antioxidant, reducing free radicals that can damage cells and DNA.
We all know that copper is an excellent conductor of electricity and that is perhaps why it is used in many magical applications. Many believe it conducts and enhances the energies of the stones that accompany it. Copper has been used in the making of magic wands with quartz crystals as it is said to heighten the magician’s ability to direct magical energies during rituals.
Copper is said to balance the body’s polarity by correcting the flow of projective and receptive energies. It has been used in the physical healing of the blockages of these energies that lead to diseases like rheumatism, arthritis, and general malaise. Copper supports the blood, aids in tissue repair, and increases vitality. It also tells me when I need to pay closer attention to my acidity levels. When things are out of whack, my ring fingers do turn green or black. I quickly turn things around by upping the green tea and avocado! Daily B vitamins also help with balancing your ph level.
Copper is my preferred metal…or perhaps it prefers me. It has been a great channel for my creativity and I feel WELL while working with it. For me, something magical happens when I am working with it… I feel balanced. Perhaps that is because I am a Libra and ruled by Venus, just as copper is?
For me Copper is very grounding. It calms me while still allowing me to tap into the ethereal side where creativity exists. It just feels RIGHT!
There are many articles and opinions on the benefits of copper out there. Bottom line is you have to decide for yourself!
